Cross-Stich by PaperRockScisorz

Postby PaperRockScisorz on Thu Dec 18, 2008 3:12 am

I'm PaperRockScisorz, and I'm a lazy bitch. I'm also too stubborn to wear a thimble.

These are the first and only cross-stitches I've ever (almost) finished. This was a project for my boyfriend's birthday. I decided to make him a guitar strap with all of his favorite video game characters on it when he said he was going to find a way to hang the horribly ugly bead sprite Boo I made for him from his guitar. "Surely there must be a better way," I thought. A better way, indeed, but much more tedious.

Image
Kirby, Boo, and Samus (respectively, but you knew that already)
The Boo looks better now, and I'm going to completely redo the Kirby because it looks like complete shit.
Image
Link from Four Swords
He is by far my favorite even though he's really simple. I'm quite happy with my color choices especially considering I picked them by memory of the sprite whilst at the store.
Image
Locke from FFVI
Image
Snake Codec
Credit to DoctorOctoroc for the resizing and coloring. I did switch a few of his colors around, so if anything looks bad it's my fault.
Image
The only piece yet to make it to the strap. Getting them on there is a bitch of a process, but it's going to work! I know it looks really rough around the edges, but I think it's cooler that way for its purpose.

If you've noticed that there are no outlines it's because that is the way I originally intended to attach them to the strap. That didn't work out very well (as you can see with Snake), so I'm going to stitch the outlines before I backstitch them on... or whatever I decide to do.

I hope you like it. The best thing is my boyfriend was thrilled. Since the project wasn't done I got to put each piece in a small box which all went in a bag with the strap at the bottom (Snake attached) under some tissue paper. It was funny to watch him open all of them with the look you get when you know you're supposed to like a gift but don't. I could just see the "wtf am I going to do with these" in his eyes. THEN he understood when he got to the strap. It was great.

Suck it, hoe!
I was thinking about that last night actually (the piece), and I think I'm going to start it over tomorrow. Real cross stitch is just too much, so I think I'm going to use the tent stitch method instead. It shouldn't be so hard to pull the needle through the damn canvas... I'll figure something out.
Hold your damn horses! <3

Well, I suppose in theory, Octoroc having "rock" in it would suggest that Paper beats "roc", but remember, I am a Doctor, and Octorocs shoot rocks...so while your paper covers each "roc" I shoot at you, I smash your scissors with them, and our rocks just cancel eachother out.

I can still tear your head off with my bear hands, so...I wouldn't get too cocky yet

Actually I'm quite the busy lady not doing a damn thing. You can blame Josh for my not stitching today. We were supposed to go to Michael's last night (I needed new plastic canvas), and we didn't make it there because we were looking in B&N for a gift for his friend for too long.

Don't worry, Bryan, my next piece is pretty epic if I do say so myself. It's hard to go epic as in big with cross-stitch since it takes so much time, but if you mean epic in content then you shalln't be disappointed.

You weren't looking for shit - you were *NC-17* in a dressing room somewhere...just admit it.

*NC-17*-ing in a dressing room can be quite fun, Doc, so don't knock it until you've tried it!

Other fun places to *NC-17*:
the kitchen table
your parents' bed
the bathtub (with AND without water)
a bus (I'd advise against a schoolbus)
McDonald's bathroom (that's just been cleaned by someone with OCD)
the student union at your nearest college
a library (be quiet!)
